2015 KRAM Volunteer List

I'm happy to announce that one of our very own members, Mike Grady, placed 3rd again in Team Scale this year at Top Gun! Congrats Mike!!

"The event  at Top Gun 2014 was Team Scale. Team normally means one person builds the aircraft and another fly's it in the competition. Dustin Buscher from BVM models is my pilot. The MiG-15  also won third in Team last year. For 2014 I corrected all of the 2013 judges criticisms  from last year and made an additional 40 plus scale enhancements. This year heavy rains reduced the flying for team and three other events to only one flight. Last year the MiG and my pilot scored very well in four rounds of flight scores which allowed us to win third. This year we hoping for better static and flying numbers but had to go with only one flight. Our total score was 188.750."

On 2/5/2013, Lee Frederickson presenting AMA Merit AwardLee Frederickson, as AMA District 7 AAVP, presented a plaque to the club honoring us "In recognition of the club member's efforts in teaching model aircraft flying and building skills to students of the West Michigan Aviation Academy."

Thanks to all of the club members that volunteer their time each week to help the kids at WMAA! This is proof that your efforts have not gone un-noticed.

KRAM Receives AMA Award of Merit

Visiting on one of the mornings that the R/C club meets, Mr. Jesky and Mr. Pritchett got to experience the students love of aviation and the level to which KRAM members are helping. They were thoroughly impressed with not only the school, their kids and faculty, but with our interaction with the school! So much so, that we got a full page write-up in Model Aviation, February 2013, page 154. Click the image to read it full-size.

A BIG thanks goes out to all of our members that have been volunteering each week. This is proof that your efforts have not gone unnoticed or unappreciated!!

KRAM & WMAA were featured in a quick blog post that was featured in the AMA Flightline Newsletter & Youth Blog. This is great exposure for both of us and there is more to come! Please go to the link at the end and share on your Facebook!

A Trip to Western Michigan Aviation Academy

In early December, AMA’s Education Director, Bill Pritchett and District VII VP Tim Jesky took a trip to the Western Michigan Aviation Academy. They visited the Academy to learn more about the programs that were put together to provide a charter high school experience with lots of aviation resources available.  One of their best resources is the local AMA Charter Club, the Kent Radio Aero Modelers and their president, Nikolei Zinsli.  Not only does the Dean, George Pavey, recognize the value of modeling, the local AMA club knows a great opportunity to share their wealth of talent and experience.  Every Tuesday and Thursday morning KRAM members can be found building and flying with the students at WMAA.
