MINUTES OF THE March 7th, 2023 meeting

Review of the minutes of the Feb 7, 2023 meeting garnered no discussion or request for changes. MOTION TO APPROVE BY Jeff Street SECONDED BY Dave Hill CARRIES

OLD BUSINESS:
MIKE MURPHY – Safety Director Report absent no message
Gary Stephens V.P. Report
- Swap update – time changes allowing vendors in 30 minutes earlier than last year. Some discussion on vendors ‘Cherry Picking’ complaints but not deemed a concern.
- Nets have been ordered for the pavilion safety netting – 3 nets so if any damage occurs likely you only replace 1/3 of the netting.
- Mentioned the Feb scammer email asking for gift certificates pretending to be Jeff S.
- By-laws clarification – Gary had misinformed, clarified we have to present.
Dave Hills Maintenance Director Report-
- Discovered that a gas can without a cap had outgassed and the garage was full of fumes. Stuffed a rag in the spout. Will be getting a better cap.
- Trolly on the snapper tires were replaced, but a new one had gone flat. Valve stem fixed it no cost.
- Spring work bee suggestion to cover a list of items which was handed out at tonight’s meeting. Date to be determined.
Social activity Director Report
- This office is still open we are looking for a new director.
Chris Mroch – WEBSITE STATUS
- By laws on the website were draft edited for the Sec/Treasurer division.
- Website is having issues where Chris is locked out of the website and cannot make changes. He is working with an outside specialist company to remove any malware or corruption. We are flying without a pilot.
JEFF STREIT PRESIDENT –
- Lawn Mower candidates – one leading possibility is a ZTR John Deere, no decisions made yet.
- Jeff will tackle the dandelion and insect spraying with his personal equipment.
- Jeff will continue as social director till someone steps up
- FAA remote ID information will be on the website, Jeff and Chris approved.
- Role of Recording secretary suggested for Jim Herron, retaining Secretary/Treasurer for Dan McLaren thus eliminating the need for by-law change.
Danny Osborne SPRING COUPLES DINNER –
- -Branns April 15th is the date location is Division. He needs to know how many are bringing wives versus solo.
NEW BUSINESS:
Jeff Streit
- Jeff Streit made a motion to host combat, though schedule is not set yet – we offer to host a few events. Chuck seconds. Passed.
- Veterans Fly In will be June 3rd this year. War Birds desired but all planes welcome. Pulled Pork and some good Salads.
- Jeff Streit moves we conduct a longest day fly-in – flying starts at 9am.. fly till dark. Seconded by Gary Stephens Gary – motion carried.
- Jeff reported a request to help at the Lowell ‘Suds on the Farm’ event Sept 9th – They are seeking War Bird R/C flyers on the same day as our Poker Fun Fly. Discussion included an AMA issue for insurance and FAA Part 107. We’ll decline the invite.
Dan McLaren –
- update on FRIA application, AMA sent a google earth picture of our field and Dan had to outline our flight area. He responded to the request.
- AMA charter club certificate, liability insurance certificate have been received for 2023.
- Dan is getting responses from his recent dues requests. Those who have not paid yet are now delinquent as of this week.
Show & Tell –
Chuck Putney brought in the Corsair we are raffling at the swap meet. Suggest it’s a good 3rd or 4th plane. Why ? – It’s a tail dragger which makes take offs hard on a beginner in cross winds. Noted it’s 3s or 4s capable, and 4s powered flight is non-scale VERY powerful.
