Old Business
Mike Murphy – Safety Message – cycle those batteries for winter storage!
Jim Grant – First and foremost thanked all who assisted with the set-up, clean-up, and operation of the Swap Shop. The event was a success with a profit of $1476.62. Profits were down vs. prior years due to the number of unsold tables. The number of attendees appeared good and a lot of merchandise went out the door… The raffle plane generated $532 in ticket sales and a profit of $157. President Phil Shea thanked Jim for a job well done! (as do we all since this event pays the rent for the flying field!!!)
Mark Schmaltz – The Veteran’s Fly-In, although lightly attended (11 vets plus care givers and 13 KRAM members) all had a nice day. The weather turned cold and windy so the Vets headed home about 1:30 with many thank yous and a promise to return again in 2019!
Mark Schmaltz – Lawn tractor repair of two blown head gaskets has been completed. Lee Frederickson reports it runs great! Thanks for the effort Mark!
New Business
Phil Shea – reviewed the club leadership nominations for 2019. The only position without a candidate was the Social Director. With the promise of help from his friends, Steve O’Connor agreed to be nominated. With that nomination there was a candidate nominated for all positions. Dan McLaren moved to close nominations. Jim Grant seconded and the vote carried. Once the nominations were closed and there was an unopposed candidate for each position, Dan McLaren made a motion to elect the slate of candidates as our club leadership for 2019. Matt Slobe seconded the motion and the motion carried. Thus, our officers for 2019 are:
President Phil Shea
Vice President Jim Grant
Vice President George Orphan
Secretary/Treasurer Dan McLaren
Safety Officer Mike Murphy
Maintenance Officer Jim Herron
Social Director Steve O’Connor
Web Master Brian Thomas
Phil thanked Mark Schmaltz, outgoing Social Director, for his efforts over the past year and the good food at our events.
Dan McLaren – WMAA wants to run an RC Camp for 7th / 8th graders July 22-25. This would only impact flying at the club from about noon to 3:00pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The rest of the time would be spent at the WMAA. All present overwhelmingly indorsed the club involvement in this venture.
George Orphan is looking for ideas for possible promotional video for the club.
Some ideas for the professional to consider are: Building, indoor flying, outdoor flying, equipment used and needed for flying and building, instructions, Combat flying and IMAC contests.
Dan McLaren made a motion to carry over the existing club dues for 2019. Jim Grant seconded the motion and the motion carried.
Show and Tell – none
Next meeting: January 8, 2019 at 7:00pm AT West Michigan Aviation Academy
Meeting adjourned at 7:55
Motion by: Jim Grant
Seconded by: Lee Frederickson
Respectfully Submitted,
Dan McLaren
KRAM Secretary / Treasurer
