Minutes of the September 5, 2017 Meeting
Meeting was called to order at 7:55 by President Mark Schmaltz

Review of the Minutes of the August 1, 2017 meeting produced no changes.

New Members: ROY HOIN and Dave Peirce is rejoining the club as an associate member!
Old Business
Mike Murphy – Safety review – do it like a math formula – know the safe thing to do, do the safe thing, and no accidents will happen (except even when you do everything correct, crap can still happen!).
Mark Schmaltz – reported the Club Picnic was very lightly attended but it was a beautiful day and those that showed up had a great day of flying.
Phil Shea – Swap Shop update – everything is on schedule. Raffle tickets are out and the plane is making the rounds of the hobby shops. All members have their tickets – please sell or buy them yourself and return the stubs and money to Phil.
New Business
Mark noted the new American Flag in place. Thanks for the donation and effort to get it up before the Vet’s Fly In
Lee Frederickson led a discussion about the condition of the runway. Possible things to do next year:
– Do nothing – leave the ruts as they are.
– Pull up worst areas and fill as we did two years ago.
– Pull up, add drain tile underneath, add pee gravel and/or crushed concrete underneath and – relay old mat.
– Pull up mat and replace with grass (try to sell used mat).
– Matt will try to get info on pee gravel from the company he works for.
– Lee will seek advice from AMA
– More discussion at the October meeting.
Lee Frederickson led a discussion about communications within the club. He proposed an email list be added to the website for all to use. It was pointed out that an email list is currently active for the President and Secretary / Treasurer for club business. Many voiced an opinion that they did not want to be part of a website directory. There is already enough communication with social media for those who want to participate. The discussion was deferred to the October meeting.
