Mike Murphy – Safety review:
Mike recounted how a couple of weeks ago while flying at a contest in Ohio he had trouble landing in the wind. His wife (and caller) retrieved the plane and mentioned the rudder seemed to be flopping around. Mike basically blew here off. Later he discovered she was absolutely correct – the push rod had come disconnected from the control horn! When someone tells you something, listen!
Steve Gutschaw and Mike then discussed the fact that 2.4 transmitter signals cannot pass through the human body so do not shield them from line of sight with the receiver!
Likewise, wireless training systems have a limit of how far apart they can be and still function – recommended not beyond 40 feet. Beyond that point the trainer box uncouples from the master and the master becomes live, even with the training button still pushed. Be safe – know the limits of your equipment!
Lee reported the KRAM picnic was rained out.
Mark Schmaltz reported 8 of the 15 pre-registered flyers showed up for the IMAC contest due to the weather forecast. Matt Slobe and Phil Shea were the only entrants in “Basic” so they finished 1 / 2!
Mark made a motion to approve another IMAC event in 2017. Motion carried and the date will be announced as soon as determined.
Matt Slobe is investigating the availability and cost of a permanent “State Park” type grill. Matt will bring additional information back for discussion.
