Lee – reported we have collected $1450 in pledges with only $40 left outstanding.  (After the meeting Tim Power added another $50 to the pot.  Anyone else who has not contributed is welcome to do so!!!  Just show me the money!)

Danny Osborn reported the Spring Banquet, although lightly attended was enjoyed by all that made the effort to attend.

Lee thanked the 18 members who showed up on the field clean-up day of May 2.  Fences got mended and re-stretched, staples on the runway got reset, dirt was added under the runway to eliminate the gully at the end of the east taxi way, etc.

Danny Osborn – TAG Day report out – Saturday – anyone available to help, please show up.  Time is 10am to 2pm.

New Business

Lee – coming events

Memorial Fly-In – June 13

Club Picnic – July 25

Vets Fly-In – September 12

Lee announced “mowing day and time” (Thursday 1:30 to 5:30) with reminder the field is closed while being mowed.

Lee proposed mowing the infield (pit area plus ends of the runway plus six or eight rows to the north) twice a week with him mowing with his tractor and the parking area and the far north being mowed every two weeks by Roger with the big mower.  He believes this will give a nicer appearance and save mowing expense.  Mark Roddy made a motion support this proposal that was seconded by Jim Grant and carried.

Lee proposed a work day to fix damage from cement pour.  Discussion revealed no support because we have a number of events coming up that would destroy any seeding efforts.  The proposal was tabled until fall.

Guest Speaker:

The June speaker was to be Steve Barr but since he had nothing to fly the show and tell at the field with FPV quad was cancelled.

Lee announced the “West Michigan RC Travelers” which is a Facebook page that displays open flying at five different clubs.  Lee’s idea is that flyers that want to be with other flyers have the opportunity once a week.  Check out the site and request to join.  AMA required at all. The schedule is:

KRAM – June 11 4 to dark

WOLVERINE SKY HAWK – June 17 5-8pm at Clifford Lake

IONIA – June 25 4 to dark

WARPED WINGS – July 1 5 to dark

WMRAF – July 7 5 to dark

Lee believes communication within the club via social media between club members is the way to go.  We already have a Facebook group set up thanks to Nik Zinsli.  The Web site will stay active for now with a future link to Facebook.  Nik will send out an email on how to link up with Facebook.

Lee thanked Mark Roddy for the contribution of the electric charging station.  At the next meeting there will be a demo of how to work the generator and use the charging station…

Dan accepted a donation of PT 40 Trainer Kit by Fred Wiltse.  Dan Osborn has assembled the ARF and it is held in reserve as a club trainer for future use.

Dan thanked Jim Heist for his efforts in securing 25 new chairs for the field.  His wife was garage saleing and called him to come and look at something and when he arrived he saw the chairs.  Great buy Jim (25 chairs for $100).

Show and Tell

Pictures and the article about Mike Grady’s B17, which took 3 place in Top Gun scale invitational were passed around.  The plane is a 1/9 scale and weighs 65 pounds. The 138 inch span and 99 inch length bird is all electric. See the interview with Mike and Gerry Yarrish on Model Airplane News premium site.

Lee conducted an auction of items he had collected when he attended Triple Tree in May.  Hats and tee shirts garnered $36 for the club.

Meeting adjourned at 7:38pm
