August 22 KRAM IMAC Challenge
September 13 Veteran’s Fly In
Mark Schmaltz reminded everyone of the upcoming IMAC Challenge on August 22nd. Some things to note:
Field mowing will take place Thursday, 8/21
Field will be closed to open flying from noon Friday until about 1:00 Sunday when IMAC activities are done for the weekend.
Helpers are needed – score keepers, runners, food table, etc.
10 contestants have pre-registered (including 3 KRAM members) – hope to have 15 on event day.
If anyone is coming out and would care to bring some brownies or cookies to sell to contestants/spectators as a fund raiser, please do so. Please pre-package them in small quantities if possible.
Nik reported the raffle plane for the Swap Shop is now at Ryder’s Hobby shop and looks very good. The plane is complete with all servos, motor, etc. – only needs receiver, switch, and battery to fly. Members’ tickets will be forthcoming from Dave Pierce soon.
Lee Frederickson noted how shabby the tables in the shelter area looked. A discussion was had regarding repair vs. replacement. It was decided to replace the old wooden tables with plastic ones for next season.
Ed Bradley complained about getting wet while huddled under the shelter during a violent rain storm. He proposed enclosing the open sides of the shelter and putting roll up doors across the front to have a complete shelter. After much discussion, Nik asked for a show of hands interested in enclosing the shelter. Four people supported the proposal – Ed Bradley, Lee Frederickson, Mark Schmaltz, and I believe Steve Gurd.
Lee Frederickson then proposed putting a cement floor in the shelter area. He expanded that to a motion that a committee investigate, price, engineer, etc. possible improvements to the shelter area to be brought back to a winter meeting when more members are present. (ed note: Although the attendance of 15 members this evening is not far off our normal attendance.) Mark Schmaltz seconded the motion which carried. The committee stands as Frederickson, Schmaltz, Bradley, and Gurd. If you want to be on the committee, contact Lee.
Show and Tell
Brian Thomas talked about his new RV 8 which replaced his destroyed trainer. Almost nothing was salvaged from his trainer but he really likes the new plane.
50/50 for August won by Lee Frederickson who kindly donated his $16 winning to the club.
August attendance winner was Matt Slobe who got a new prop.
Next meeting: September 2, 2014 at 7:00pm at the flying field.
Meeting adjourned at 7:45
