OLD BUSINESS:
Terry Atwood, manager of the RC section of Riders Hobby Shop gave a short presentation.   He has been the manager for about a year and hopes we recognize the changes he has made related to the amount and diversity of product.  He is always looking for input related to stock we think he should be carrying…

Dan McLaren gave a brief follow up on building addition.  The contractor has reworked the quote to allow us to do the removal of the south side steel so he can tie into the old structure and the erection of the steel sides.  This will reduce the cost so we can afford it.  Construction will be in mid July or sooner, depending on his schedule.  Following the presentation a discussion took place with a few members questioning the size, cost, involvement, etc.  Other members mentioned that this decision was made in March and reaffirmed in May when we got the grant from AMA.  No change in direction resulted so we will wait for the contractor to notify us with a start date.

Mark Schmaltz and Nik gave an update on the Build Night activity.  The plane is covered. Trim scheme and final assembly coming up. Just about finished…

Nik reminded that if you want to know more about the IMAC event, see Nik’s email on the subject.  Currently we have 4 out of towners and 3 club members signed up. He also noted that the plaques have been ordered – blue and gold and look very classy.  He also noted there are sponsor prizes from Hobbico, Air Works, and Higher Plane Productions.  Nik encouraged those even thinking of trying it, to register for the event on mini-iac.com. This weekend (June 7, 8 & 9) is the Saranac IMAC event in case you want to go there and see what it is all about.

Nik reported on Memorial Fly In – 21 pilots signed in – 8 pilots on 72 and 13 on 2.4GHz with 46 people present for lunch.   Donations for lunch were $82 with 50 /50 of $28.  Net cost of the event was $80.

Floyd Atkins mentioned he was disappointed that there were no flyers out for the event and that we did not mention the significance of the “memorial” part of the event.  Nik took responsibility for both issues…

NEW BUSINESS:
Dan Osborn is starting to plan for club Fun Fly on June 29.

Reminder:  Fun Fly June 29, Club Picnic is July 13, Club Fun Fly on Aug. 3, IMAC on Aug 24 – 25, and Vets Fly In on Sept. 14

Lee Frederickson asked the rhetorical question of “why so few people at the event?”  Nik offered him $100 bucks if he could provide an answer…  It is a universal problem – even Toledo was down this year.  Issues such as PR, other clubs events, flyers, economy, age, membership levels, etc. were offered by the members.  No solution found.

George Orphan showed the proof of the Swap Shop Raffle tickets for approval.  Tickets will be produced and available shortly.

Note that two KRAM members were in the spotlight last month – Dennis “Mike” Grady along with his pilot partner finished third at the TOP GUN team event.  Jase Dussia put on a neat performance at the Joe Nall event with night 3D flying (and some daytime tail dunking in the lake). See a video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bHwYaVt3_Y

It was mentioned that the RC Club at WMAA is having an end of year pizza dinner and fly in on 6/14.  Weather permitting, we will bring them out to the field and “first flight” a couple of their creations.

Lee Frederickson reminded everyone that 8/17 is the AMA sponsored Wounded Worrier event – which is going to be a regional event hosted by the Sky Hawks to raise money for the cause.  Save the date and save your dollars for this worth-while cause.

Show and Tell
Nik showed off two WMPF creations.  He had a Mako which he called “stock with additions”.  He had painted it in Coca-Cola power boat colors and used craft floral spray paint (does not attack the foam).  He added a cockpit, engine cover, exhaust pipes and lights inside and out.  It looked great in the static position and even neater in flight.  This creation took patience as he carved a groove in the foam to lay the lights in so they would be out of the way and waterproof. He also had a MX2 foamy that he added LED strip lights to for night flying.  He flew both as it started to get dark and it really stood out!  Very nice modifications Nik!

50/50 for June of $15 was won by Dan McLaren who donated the winnings to the club.

Next meeting:  July 2, 2013 at 7:00pm at the field

Meeting adjourned at 8:10
    Motion by:    Nik
    Seconded by:    everyone else

Respectfully Submitted,

Dan McLaren
