Old Business
President Mark thanked Dan and Roz Osborn for their efforts in making the Winter Get Together a success on January 30. All who attended enjoyed the evening. Mark also noted it was nice to have our AMA Area VP Bill Oberdeck present for the presentation to Larry Brannan for his years of service to AMA and Region VII. Lee Frederickson has replaced Larry so the club will continue to have “the inside scoop”! Thanks again Larry and good luck to Lee!
Mark has not yet made contact with the Lowell High School group but assured the members that he sees no issues with having that group move their training night to something other than Tuesdays so they do not interfere with our normal club member training. We will deal with this issue when training starts again in the spring.
Mark reported both hobby shops are enthused about having a banner hanging at the field and being displayed at the swap shop. They will provide said banners before spring.
Dan Osborn reported that the YMCA folks are very interested in having a TAG day type event, probably in May, vs. the type of program we had last year. More to come as plans come together.
Mark proposed a number of dates for KRAM events for 2010. After discussion, the following dates were established: club fun fly on 5/22 and 9/25; sanctioned fly ins for Memorial Day on 5/12 and the Vets on 9/11, club picnic on 7/24. Lee Lubbers will bring a proposal for a “big bird” fly in to the next meeting. All dates were established to avoid conflicts with events at other area clubs. All dates are posted to the club calendar on the web site.
No report on park flyers. Issue dropped unless additional information is brought forward.
Solar power at the field, previously tabled at the January meeting, was motioned by Allen Simpson and seconded by Danny Osborn to be dropped from consideration for 2010 due to funds availability and lack of need. Motion carried.
Nik is still investigating an R/C air show or static display in conjunction with the Kalamazoo Air Zoo.
New Business
Andrew Kursch, a prior member of KRAM during 2005-2007 was voted in as a new member. Welcome back Andrew!!!
Swap Meet fliers are printed and available. See Danny Osborn if you need some to post or download the file from the website and print your own.
Mark Schmaltz reported we have requested $250 from AMA to support advertising and lunch for this year’s TAG event which is scheduled for August 5th.
Dan McLaren brought up the cost of mowing and requested concurrence of the members that the mowing, which was done a half at a time last year, be done all on one day. This would save an estimated $400 for the summer. Members agreed and Dan will contact Eddie to be sure there are no hidden issues to doing this. Ed Bradley questioned the cost of and opportunity for outsourcing this job and selling the mower. As a result of the question, Ed has the assignment of getting some quotes from some of the lawn services in the area so a cost comparison can be made.
It was noted by Ed Fowler that it was Robert Williams’ birthday! Initially it was alleged that it was his 91st but Robert was quick to clear up the issue – only his 71st!!!
Next meeting is March 2 at 7:00pm.
Motioned to adjourn by Ron Ricketson and seconded by Floyd Atkins. Motion carried at 7:50pm.
Respectfully,
Dan McLaren
Secretary/Treasurer
